So, Scotty Kilmer uploaded a new video, a longer one, of yet another scathingly tongue-in-cheek analysis his customer’s CLS 550, and of all modern Mercedes-Benz vehicles. (TLDR: He likes Toyota and doesn’t like Luxury cars. That’s pretty much all you need to know)

My suspicion was that this was his direct response to Tavarish’s article on CarBuying, which as you may remember, was perhaps moderately critical!

I had been rusting through the YouTube comments expecting more heat, but found little. The video has a higher like to dislike ratio than I anticipated. Probably because he put much more effort into this one, and was somewhat complementary of its driveability. Highly ususual. And boring. No angry comments... Le sigh.

BUT WAIT!

Ah hah! So Tavarish’s comeback was just to repost his article. Is he not aware that said article is precisely why this new video exists? Kind of the equivalent of saying, “No you,” “your mom,” “Nuh uh.” I feel that this does not suffice.

Therefore I am further anticipating perhaps another piece to appear on Jalopnik soon about Mr. Kilmer.

In one corner: a backyard mechanic that allegedly drove an ugly Corolla liftback for 3 decades and gives suspect advice, and in the other, a guy who loves used luxury cars and giving suspect advice. Let the shitshow resume!

Everything he does is a little too on the nose. In the same way that he attempts to offer tips to the ley man, he should anticipate that said ley man is likely not the type to buy a used CLS.

I think Scotty did a grave mistake for uploading that. he’s ‘feeding the troll’ so to speak. that being said, I can’t wait to see how this unfolds.

His dismissal for the window seal preserver is pathetic though, there’s quite a few cars nowadays that have it, and I’ve seen weatherstripping go dry and crack, even part of the door seal on my jetta got torn due to neglect.

There is truth that there are unnecessary features that can fail, but original owners are too rich to car, and third hand owners are aware of depreciation and known faults by then... It’s just gonna be a pissing contest.
